Celebration of Charlotte’s Life will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday October 19, 2019 at Cornerstone Wesleyan Church, Oblong, IL. Burial will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens next to her husband Silas A. Bennett in Schereville, IN. There will be No Visitation.

Charlotte Louise (Smith) Bennett, 97, of Oblong passed away on Monday October 7, 2019 at Helia Health Care in Olney, IL.
She was born in Jasper County, Illinois (North Bend Area) on January 10, 1922 to Clarence Ray and Priscilla Sylvia (Brownfield) Smith. On July 23, 1939 she married Silas Albert Bennett, who preceded her in death on September 4, 1968. She later married LaVon McKinlay on November 11, 1975; who preceded her in death on January 31, 1991.
Charlotte was the Co-Owner of Bennett’s Radiator shop from 1961 to 1996 in Gary, IN. In 2000 she moved back to Oblong, IL. She attended Cornerstone Wesleyan Church in Oblong, IL. Charlotte enjoyed reading, riding motorcycles, and traveling. Most of all she enjoyed her time with her friends and family.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Gary Neil and Barbara Jean Bennett, Palm Desert, CA; four grandchildren Tracy Leigh, Lightcap, Longmont, Co, Tonya Marie, Booker, Meridan, Idaho, Timothy Alan Bennett, Holbert, IN and Sara Michelle Bennett, Palatine, IL; six Great-grandchildren and eight Great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Retha Spaugh, Oblong, IL along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death were parents, 2 husbands, a son Keith Duane Bennett (2005), a daughter Laurette Eileen (Laurie) Sgrambelluri (2008), three sisters Roanna Spencer (2009), Grace Good (2016) and Carol Myers (2019).
